Protection of nature program
This program concentrates mainly on the protection of the species-most rich ecosystems of the Central Europe - rivers and wetlands. Those ecosystems help to protect us against the destructive floods and they purify water. Nature Protection Program tries to find and push through such alternatives of the maintanance and use of the rivers which are directed at the harmonization of the nature protection demands with the antifloods protection as well as with the economical utilization of rivers and the surrounding countryside. Another important activity of this program is the preservation of the diyng-away plant and animal species in their original biotope and also the preservation of the natural landscape balance.
The program's Main Campaign
- Living Elbe (labe.arnika.org) - we try to protect the unique natural habitats of the numerous critically endangered plant and animal species (European beaver, river otter, strapwort) against the planned construction of two waterworks in Malé Březno and Prostřední leb. We cooperate at this project with other organizations in the Czech Republic as well as in Europe.
